House of Tulip

PITCH DECK DESIGN

I partnered with Never Whisper Justice, a justice-focused media company fusing bold storytelling and concrete social impact, to win funding for their newest feature: House of Tulip.

PITCH DECK DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION

This documentary, created by two Black trans women in New Orleans, highlights their journey in building a zero-barrier housing solution for trans people of colour.

Including voices like Indya Moore,  Janet Mock, Raquel Willis, and Yves Mathieu, this film provides an unflinching and vulnerable look at what it means to be pushed to the margins.

I created a unique logo, along with custom tulip illustrations, that represents the love and care offered by House of Tulip.

ARCHIVAL RESEARCH

House of Tulip descends from the long tradition of drag houses and other forms of queer community that seek to save vulnerable people from oppression.

I sourced key imagery from queer historical archives to visually contextualize this groundbreaking organization. I treated photography from the 70s, the 90s, and the 2010s with a grainy, soft touch to create a cohesive look and feel.

I also leaned on double exposure to juxtapose queer suffering with queer joy and strength.

This motif underscores the complexity of the queer experience, while highlighting the philanthropic efforts of the House of Tulip.
