Idea

DESIGNED AT SCOUT STUDIO

UX DESIGN

IDEA, a local venture accelerator program, consistently partnered with my studio to connect with design and development teams. Normally, that relationship would result in branding & identity, website design, and conference design for ventures.

Instead, I led my team through a massive UX project to evaluate and reimagine IDEA's ten-year-old venture pipeline in the course of four months.

USER RESEARCH

As project lead, I had to first determine the scope and timeline for this incredible request.

We entered the process chronologically, interacting with IDEA as a new venture would, and learning about IDEA from the ground up.

Each week, my collaborators and I would reassess our findings, our projected deliverables, and come up with new frameworks based on our findings.

Our guiding objective was to locate and alleviate the pain points in this outdated system. Mapping out the emotional & logistical journey of the ventures we spoke to was an incredibly important part of this project.

INFOGRAPHICS

We came to realize that confusion stemmed from misunderstandings about the purpose of each stage in IDEA's process. Ventures didn’t understand which resources they could access, which left them feeling disconnected.

To solve for these pain points, we first devised a new colour-coding system for each stage (Ready, Set, Go, & Launched) to help clarify.

We set to creating new stage infographics as a weekly exercise and testing them out to see which worked most effectively.

PRINT DESIGN

Through interviews, events, and discussion, we created deliverables designed to make the IDEA journey from Ready to Launch as easily understandable as possible.

We created booklets for each stage, both for the ventures and their coaches, that would guide them through the IDEA process and highlight the resources available to them.

In wrapping up our process, we put together a research report that summarizes our findings, our solution design, and our final deliverables.

Taking on the challenge of this user experience project was an unbelievable experience. By leaving my comfort zone, I opened myself up to a whole new area of design.

The skills I acquired through this process now guide my approach to all new projects.
